Dr. Emrah Bıyık obtained his B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, in 2003, followed by an M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2004, an M.S. in Applied Mathematics in 2006, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2007, all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Tro y, NY, USA. After earning his doctoral degree, he worked as a research engineer at General Electric Global Research Center, Niskayuna, NY, for 5 years, developing advanced controls and optimization solutions for various GE businesses, including GE Power & Water, GE Oil & Gas, and GE Energy Management. Dr. Bıyık is currently an Assistant Professor of Energy Systems Engineering at Yaşar University, Izmir. His research interests include control and optimization in energy systems, smart grid, power system stability, and building energy management. Dr. Bıyık has served as a researcher in several TUBITAK and European Commission FP-7 funded projects, and currently he is a Horizon 2020 Marie-Sklodowska Curie Fellow leading the BuildingControls project.
